Detailed: In the presence of S-adenosyl-L-methionine, MetJ negatively regulates the expression of genes required for methionine, S-adenosylmethionine and tetrahydrofolate biosynthetic processes and response to hydroperoxide. Under this condition, MetJ is modified to MetJ-S-adenosyl-L-methionine, binds its target sites preventing the expression of its regulated genes. In the absence of S-adenosyl-L-methionine, MetJ unbinds its target sites enabling the expression of its regulated genes.
