Description: GalS negatively regulates the expression of genes involved in galactose facilitated transport in the presence or absence of beta-D-galactose and negatively regulates the expression of genes involved in methylgalactoside transport in the absence of beta-D-galactose. GalS dually regulates the expression of genes involved in galactose degradation to UDP-galactose in the absence or presence of beta-D-galactose (to respond to different conditions of galactose availability). The presence of beta-D-galactose induces the expression of genes related to methylgalactoside uptake.
