Description: AraC positively regulates the expression of genes involved in transport of L-arabinose and negatively regulates the expression of genes involved in catabolism of D-xylulose and also genes involved in the phosphorylation of 1-deoxy-D-xilulose-5-P, in the presence of L-arabinose. AraC dually regulates the expression of genes involved in the degradation of L-arabinose in the absence of D-fucose and presence or absence of L-arabinose. The presence of L-arabinose and the absence of D-fucose induce the expression of genes related to L-arabinose entry into the cell and genes related to the transformation from D-xylose to D-xylulose-5-P and the phosphorylation of 1-deoxy-D-xylulose-5-P.
