Note(s): The protein product of cybC was not identified in the periplasmic proteome of E. coli K-12 MG1655 Han MJ, Kim JY, Kim JA,2014. The nucleotide sequence of cybC from the K-12 strain NM522 contains a 26 bp deletion when compared to the sequence of cybC from E. coli B which encodes soluble cytochrome b562. The deletion occurs at the 5' end of the gene and extends into the putative signal sequence Trower MK,1993. Cytochrome b-562 could not be detected in cells carrying the K strain gene expressed from a plasmid Trower MK,1993.
Comment from ASAP:
The coordinates of cybC have been changed from those reported in the GenBank entry (GBAN:U00096.2) to correspond to the region of similarity to Escherichia coli Sakai (ASAP:ACA-0135330), adding 65 nucleotides to the N-terminus.
