Note(s): ygeF is located within a remnant of an ETT2 (type III secretion system) pathogenicity island that is fully present in pathogenic strains such as E. coli O157:H7 and at least partially present in most sequenced E. coli and Shigella strains 15150243. ETT2 has been shown to contribute to pathogenesis 16291689.
Comment from ASAP: The coordinates of the ygeF pseudogene have been changed from those reported in the GenBank entry (GBAN:U00096.2) to correspond to the region of similarity to Escherichia coli EDL933 (ASAP:ABH-0027842), adding 43 nucleotides to the C-terminus.
